Most people with hiatal hernias do not require treatment. When a hiatal hernia is associated with reflux symptoms, such as heartburn, you should eat smaller, more frequent meals; avoid eating for at least two hours before going to bed; and sit up for at least one hour after eating. If lifestyle changes do not relieve the symptoms, your doctor will suggest antacids or acid blockers. Surgery to repair the hernia may be considered for persistent symptoms or inflammation of the esophagus (esophagitis) that does not heal with medication.

Unfortunately, there are no exercises known to reliably benefit someone with an inguinal hernia. In fact, certain exercises that increase pressure within the abdomen (such as lifting weights or sit-ups) may worsen the condition. Exercises that may be better tolerated include low-impact, low-intensity activities, such as cycling, walking, swimming or yoga.
An inguinal hernia can cause serious complications so rather than rely on exercise, it is important for people with an inguinal hernia to seek specific advice from their doctor regarding activities to favor or avoid and for monitoring.

Vegetables cooked in healthy oils, like olive oil, avocado oil and many others, can be considered heart healthy. The harm of other fried foods depends on what you are frying. In general, whatever you fry, use oils rather than solid fats. Trans fats are the worst, but they have been banned in many countries. An occasional portion of French fries is unlikely to harm your heart if the rest of time you follow a healthy diet, like the Mediterranean style diet.

A vegan diet can be healthy and well-rounded, but it takes some effort to make the right choices. The elimination of animal products and dairy means a reduction in saturated fats and sodium, which can help to maintain a healthy weight, reduce blood cholesterol levels, and lower the chance of developing diabetes and heart disease. When choosing alternatives, look for whole grains and sources of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Avoid refined and processed foods and limit sugar.

Probiotics can come in food, homemade drinks and supplements. There are hundreds of bacteria classified as probiotics, but most come from two main species: Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. Within each of these are various strains. Probiotics are considered “good bacteria.” They help keep us healthy by interacting with the intestinal lining to protect the body from harmful invaders. They help the immune system function properly, which means better ability both to fight infections and to dampen chronic inflammation.

Depression can come on at any age. But available evidence suggests that age three would be the youngest a clinician could make the diagnosis. Sadness might not be the predominant symptom. Other signs include general emotional numbing, a diminished interest in life, and a foreshortened sense of the future. Other possible symptoms are insomnia, irritability, and difficulty in concentrating.

You may be swallowing more air than you realize. Or, your process of digestion may be normal but might be generating more gases than before. Review your diet. Many healthy foods are gas-producing. Common ones include beans; certain vegetables, such as cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, and peas; oat bran and other high-fiber foods; carbonated beverages; foods containing sorbitol (a sugar alcohol used in many low-calorie foods); and fructose, a natural sugar present in many fruits, including prunes, pears, grapes, dates, and figs.

A healthy diet for women is one rich in lean proteins, low-fat dairy, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, olive oil, fruits, and vegetables. It is also important to limit the intake of sugars, saturated fat, alcohol, and processed foods such as chips, desserts, and ready-made meals.

The pancreas makes important enzymes that help the body digest food. In Cystic Fibrosis, the tubes in the pancreas that release those enzymes into the intestines get blocked with mucus. This causes the pancreas to get inflamed, and without those enzymes the body cannot digest food, leading to diarrhea and problems with nutrition and growth.

Cystic fibrosis mostly affects the lungs, causing problems with breathing and recurrent lung infections. It also affects the digestive system, causing diarrhea and trouble with digesting food. It can also lead to recurrent sinusitis, liver and biliary problems, diabetes, arthritis, bone problems and infertility in males.
