Flank pain is pain felt in either the right or left back side of your body below the last rib and above the pelvic rim. It can be caused a kidney problem, like a kidney stone or infection; muscle strain or spasm; or an irritated nerve. Sometimes pain in the right flank is due to a gallstone, and pain in the left flank can be due to pancreatitis or a problem with the spleen. Treating the underlying problem helps relieve the pain.

Claudication is most often due to atherosclerosis forming in the arteries that carry blood to the legs. This is pretty much the same as when atherosclerosis forms in the arteries that supply the heart. The buildup of cholesterol in the walls of one or more arteries slows the flow of blood through the arteries in both conditions. The muscles that depend on this blood flow complain by causing pain when they are not getting enough oxygen to do their work. When the arteries supplying the legs are significantly narrowed, the main symptom is pain in the calf muscles, which is known as “claudication. Atherosclerosis in the arteries supplying the legs happens in people with the same risk factors that cause atherosclerosis in the heart — smoking, high cholesterol, hypertension, and diabetes lead the list.

The formula for losing weight after giving birth is similar to the formula for anyone wanting to lose weight. It means eating and drinking fewer calories than are burned through everyday activities. However, our basal metabolic rate slows down as we reduce caloric intake, adding to the challenge. After delivery, finding bursts of 10 minutes to exercise during the day, trying for quality sleep and breastfeeding can also help.

Weight loss is the primary way to reduce body fat naturally. Becoming more physically active, engaging in moderate or high intensity aerobic exercise and doing resistance or weight training will also help. The type of diet and exercise makes little difference. Greater and faster weight loss and fat reduction depends more on the amount of calorie reduction and physical activity. Liposuction can remove fat from selected areas of the body.

Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that often begins in infancy as an intensely itchy rash. Most people can’t help scratching, which leads to further irritation and the possibility of skin infection caused by injury to the skin. The injured skin remains persistently inflamed and its function as a barrier is impaired. Eczema in children may go away when they get older, but there is no medical cure. Many treatments are available to control it.
