What is anuria and what does it mean?

Anuria means that both kidneys have stopped making urine. This can happen with anything that causes acute kidney injury or during the final stage of chronic kidney disease. Anuria also can occur if there is blockage of urine flow in both ureters or blockage of the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body.
