At what age does depression start showing or develop?
Depression can come on at any age. But available evidence suggests that age three would be the youngest a clinician could make the diagnosis. Sadness might not be the predominant symptom. Other signs include general emotional numbing, a diminished interest in life, and a foreshortened sense of the future. Other possible symptoms are insomnia, irritability, and difficulty in concentrating.
