This sounds like a subconjunctival hemorrhage. That’s the medical term for a couple of drops of blood that escape from one of the tiny blood vessels just below the surface of the eye. The blood is under the conjunctiva, the thin, clear layer of tissue that is the outermost coating of the eye. Most often, subconjunctival hemorrhage occurs spontaneously. Sometimes it is related to trauma. Cellulitis is a skin infection and could involve the eyelid, which might inflame the conjunctiva. But a cellulitis would be an unlikely direct cause of a subconjunctival hemorrhage.

The treatment for breast cancer depends on the staging or a determination of how far the cancer has spread. Most patients undergo surgery to remove the cancerous tissue, either with a mastectomy (removing the entire breast) or a lumpectomy (removing the cancer and some surrounding healthy tissue). Women who undergo lumpectomy often undergo radiation as well to kill any remaining cancer cells. Some patients also undergo chemotherapy either before surgery to shrink the tumor or after surgery to try to prevent a recurrence. Then depending on the type of breast cancer, some patients will undergo additional treatment with hormone therapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapies.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) itself does not directly cause erectile dysfunction (ED). But since both are common problems in older men they often occur together. The treatment of BPH with either medication or surgery may affect male sexual function, including ED.

To help determine the best treatment for persistent diarrhea, a medical evaluation to look for the underlying cause is necessary. Important factors include:
• Whether the stools are loose and watery or contain blood and mucous
• The person’s travel history
• If the person had a recent hospital stay or was taking antibiotics before the diarrhea started
• What drugs or supplements the person is taking that could be causing diarrhea as a side effect.

Social anxiety disorder (also known as social phobia) is one of the most common psychiatric disorders. About half of the people with this disorder experience anxiety only in specific situations, particularly those involving some type of public performance such as speaking in front of people. Others have the generalized form, experiencing fear in almost any social situation. Both medication and psychotherapy help relieve symptoms. Medication tends to work faster, but cognitive behavioral therapy may have more long lasting benefits.

Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) can become pregnant. But it is often challenging because women may go many months without ovulating (producing an egg). Weight loss alone can improve the chances of becoming pregnant. Women with PCOS who wish to become pregnant often need medication to help increase the frequency of ovulation. When pregnancy is not happening with ovulation induction therapy, other methods, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), can be considered.

Alcohol dependency, also called ‘alcohol use disorder’, is a challenging condition that can be difficult to treat. Because dependency on alcohol starts with chemical changes in your brain, stopping is not just a matter of willpower. It is best to treat alcohol dependency with the help of your doctor. There are medications such as naltrexone that can help. Your doctor may also recommend cognitive behavioral therapy or support groups. It is also helpful to let your family and friends know you are trying to quit drinking alcohol so they can help support your journey. Additionally, try to avoid situations that may pressure you to drink such as bars or parties where alcohol will be served. It is very tough to quit, but it can be done. You will be more successful if you let your doctor know and ask them to help.

The only sure way to know if the material seen around an appendix during an episode of appendicitis would be to see it during surgery. Imaging tests such as a CT scan might show changes that could suggest mucus has escaped from the appendix. But the most common finding of appendicitis without rupture is what known as fat stranding around the appendix.
