What are the signs and symptoms of choking?
Choking is the sensation of not enough air getting into or out of the lungs. It can happen with a partial or complete obstruction of the airway. With a partial obstruction, the person will almost always cough. If the airway is completely obstructed, the person can’t talk and may not be able to generate a cough. A complete obstruction is a medical emergency.
