I have been experiencing numbness in the right side of my right thigh. At night when I go to bed, that numbness turns into a hot burning sensation. I recently had an operation on my left shoulder, but I wouldn?t think this would have anything to do with the numbness. Do you have any suggestions as to what might cause this kind of numbness? Do you think it will eventually go away?
When I got a splinter last year, I didn’t think too much of the situation at first. But a couple of weeks later, my elbow started to swell up. I went to the hospital and was told I had a Methicillin-resistant Staph aureus (MRSA) infection. After a month of taking Zyvox (linezolid), I was told I no longer had MRSA. Recently, I stepped on a bathroom rug that still had a staple in it and a red pimple started to appear. I went to a foot doctor who said it was the beginning of staph infection. Once you have had MRSA does it always stay in your body — or am I just having a bunch of bad luck?
I have a couple of questions about herpes. Does it show up right away or does it take a while before you know you have it? I had blood test for herpes two years ago with my last pregnancy and it was negative. Now I’m pregnant again and I have a positive reading from the blood test. Would that mean that I was infected with herpes sometime between the two babies? My second question is: How often are the blood test results wrong?

I am cold all the time. Sometimes I get so cold that all I can do is take a really hot shower or bath. Then I wrap up in pajamas, a robe, and three or four blankets and just ride it out. I understand that many of the antidepressants on the market are used to treat both depression and anxiety. I have tried three different antidepressants to treat my depression (Celexa, Zoloft, and Effexor) and they all cause me to experience anxiety as a side effect. Since these drugs are also used to treat anxiety, can you explain how this is possible?
I’m a 48-year-old woman. I found out four years ago that I have thyroid disease. I’ve been taking Synthroid, but recently my husband lost his job, and with it our health insurance. I’ve been off the medication now for a month. What will happen if I’m unable to take Synthroid because I cannot afford it anymore? Is there a substitute that I can take until my husband finds a job?
