Post-Surgical Radiation with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ

I recently had a lumpectomy to treat ductal carcinoma in situ. I am now considering post-surgical radiation treatment. How effective is post-surgical radiation for this? Is it necessary for me to undergo radiation?
